Have your say on the planning application for Phase 1 of the Chisholm Trail - FURTHER UPDATE    11 September, 2016

The Chisholm Trail is a City Deal project for a foot and cycleway linking the north and south of the city, passing close to the railway line on Ditton Meadows. It was the subject of a public consultation held in autumn 2015.

A formal planning application for Phase 1 of the Trail has now been submitted and is open for comment on the County Council’s website. It is for

  • development which would affect a public right of way
  • development which does not accord with the provisions of the development plan
  • development which affects the setting of a listed building
  • planning permission for development which affects the character or appearance of a conservation area
  • proposed development at land between Coldham’s Lane and River Cam, through Coldham’s Common, Barnwell Junction Pastures and Ditton Meadows
  • a north-south pedestrian and cycle path from the River Cam to Coldham’s Lane broadly parallel to the railway line, including widening of the walkway beneath River Cam railway bridge, new underpass under Newmarket Road, bridge across Coldham’s Brook, replacing culvert with bridge on Coldham’s Common, new paths and improvements to existing path.

The application number is C/5007/16/CC. Please click here for links to the documents and an online form for commenting. Alternatively, you can send comments in writing to:

Note that this is separate from the consultation on the proposed foot and cycle bridge (C/5005/16/CC), and the County Council has made it clear that comments will not be carried across from one to the other. If you wish any comments you have previously made on the bridge application to be considered in relation to the Chisholm Trail one, these will need to be submitted before the close of the consultation period, which has recently been extended until Friday 7th October 2016.
