|Wing archaeological excavations due to start 8 September, 2015|
Archaeological excavations on the field fronting Newmarket Road, located to the east of the North Works and to the west of the now vacant Peugeot dealership at Teversham Corner, are due to start soon. The site is being excavated as part of the preparatory works for the Wing project, to identify and record potential buried archaeological remains. This is a necessary requirement of the Local Authorities before any development will be allowed to proceed on the site, and of course subject in due course to planning permission being granted.
Works are due to commence this week in the south-west corner of the field, which will be the site of the temporary used cars dealership that was approved by South Cambs District Council last week. Works will then roll on across the rest of the field and may last from two to three months.[+ go back...]
