Proposed plan for new station on the agenda    24 May, 2015

The parish council will be discussing the proposed development of a new 450 sq m station building at Chesterton Sidings, Cowley Road, including cycle links and extension of the guided busway, at the meeting on 2nd June.

All the details are on the South Cambs District Council's website; here is the link.

Here is a link to the Parish Councils response to the origional application in 2013.

The following proposal will be put to the parish council and may be included in our comments on the application.

"It is proposed that the main link and demand between the Science Park area and Addenbrookes should be managed by people using a train shuttle service (could be made up of a combination of hop on/ hop off of main commuter trains and supplemented by additional 1 or 2 carriage shuttles between the Science Park station and city centre station. Anyone going on to Addenbrookes can either hop on the guided bus at the city centre station, or it is a very short 5 min cycle ride, or brisk 15 min walk to the hospital from there.  The extensive upgrade work to cycle paths on Hills Road would also support this approach.

This has the benefit of taking "traffic" completely off the roads as it crosses across the city centre."
