Three Free Trees planted    5 March, 2020

The village has benefited from the Three Free Tree scheme which was funded by South Cambs District Council.

Thanks to a special offer at the nursery we did in fact end up with four trees for the price of three, which included supporting stakes, ties and protective strips. It took some time to find a suitable location, we decided on the east end of the recreation ground to add some further interest to a much used area. We had to ensure that we avoided the power lines, not obstructing the sports areas, or future access to the rear of the cemetery, while allowing for potential growth, but we managed.

Three of the trees are Sorbus and one native Small Leafed Lime. The Sorbus grows large bunches of glossy bright red berries great for the birds in winter. So doing our bit for the wildlife.

The Sorbus can grow up to 6m x 3m over 20 years, and the Lime 20m x 10m over 25 years or more.
